PvE, Old content and other stuff.

As I said with my last blog I was going to make one on PvE this time.

Why is there so much wasted content out there? Even more so why has it been nerfed so hard just so people can zerg through achievements?

Also if anyone has had the joy of doing recruit a friend and seen what a joke that is powering character up to 60 in 10 hours play time from just boosting in certain instances. No tricks of mob tagging just pulling and aoeing. No wonder why some people are bad at this game.

The foundations aren't there anymore, people level way too fast (im not saying everyone uses recruit a friend, but just leveling in general) you don't have to go instances or do group quests. It's all just there for the new player. Level up as fast as possible and pile into VoA/Naxx. IMO new people to the game aren't learning their class from the basics and although WoW is an easy game to play I think it is safe to say there are still people who have no idea what they are doing, this could lead to them making big mistakes on the simplest of tasks and then finding it hard to find a group.

There seems to be no learning curve now. Epic items are now your everyday blues. Were there enough high level normal dungeons about? I don't think so. Let's all just hit 80 jump into a heroic and win the internetz epic items for all.

Suggestions time, what I would do.

First off im not sure if Blizzard could implement this, I personally think it could be possible but anyways. People should level with 60 talents, their template should change obviously when they hit outland. A simple quest at 'The stair of destiny' would fix that, the same goes for when people go into Northrend.

This would make those level 60 and 70 chars happy but anyways on with the rest of the suggestion.

The next part of the suggestion would make the achievements perhaps feel like an achievement, I did get this idea from final fantasy online but anyways here goes. When you enter an instance there should be a cap on it. For example: Ragefire chasm entry level of 8, caps at 18. Raid instances will just cap at their expansion level so AQ40 - 60, BT 70 etc..

So basically what im trying to say is that when you enter deadmines on your 80 character you char should be scaled down to the level cap ofcourse gear and enchants should scale too. This would prevent boosting hardcore from recruit a friend and give us PvE'rs an awesome effect of nostalgia. Imagine just being bored one day and you decide to go SM just for the hell of it in a fun group. Ofcourse all old content should be un-nerfed and each raid/dungeon instance will have its respective talent template.

Problem - even if your char could be scaled down you would always have to change your talent points.

Possible solution of having an NPC at the start of the instance where you could setup your talents ready for the raid/dungeon.

Well that was just an idea that came to my head and I had to write it down. I personally think recruit a friend shouldn't grant so much experience. Me and my friend did it now I have a bunch of level 60's to level and each one took about 10 hours playtime through constant boosts. I also think that this idea would be awesome if it could be implemented and it would help people learn the game better. Also if you have any suggestions for this idea, feel free to comment.

I really have to work out how to make these blogs smaller.

PvPĀ inĀ General.

Being a long time player in WoW. It makes me sad to see that now when PvP is mentioned, everyone thinks of just arena and even now a lot of people have lost interest in it. It is true arena does take more skill and has raised the skill cap of the game, but we shouldn't be shoving all other aspects of PvP out of the window.

In this blog I will state my opinion/suggestions on how PvP could become interesting again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you look back, even to TBC. Battlegrounds were always populated, not so competative though, as I found myself raging in most where idiots do not want to win the game but rather chase HK's and still fail at it. You would have thought there would be a lot more BG's up especially being on one of the biggest, if not the biggest battlegroup in the EU (Rampage).

The problem is simple. It is far too easy to get PvP gear now and there isn't really any incentive to do battlegrounds and arena, unless you are one of those competative players out there that still enjoy it. When I look back at arena throughout all the TBC seasons except perhaps 4, the ques were nearly almost always instant no matter what time of the day it was, although there were some exceptions.

Now as time as progressed and bad players have got their way, it's nearly pointless doing battlegrounds as you really don't need to do them for honour. Please note I put bad players, as there is a difference between the casual player and bad player.

It's almost as if everything is handed to us on a plate now, blizzard need to realise that if something takes a little longer to get, it doesn't mean it's harder.

My suggestions

This is what I would change to hopefully bring all aspects of PvP back to life(Although I think blizzard would never read or care for this), but hey it's something to blog about.

First of all make it harder to get PvP gear, put marks back on the honour gear, remove PvP drops from PvE instances. It's so stupid how some lucky people got 3 parts of the best PvP gear in the game in less than a week or two by putting in little to no effort at all smashing down one of the easiest bosses I have ever seen in WoW. Remove the possiblity of getting the PvP gear with badges aswell. PvP gear should be obtained by PvP'ing and not from steam rolling your way through PvE instances.

By doing this, more people wouldn't bin off arena and actually play it to get their PvP gear, rather than waiting for their VoA to reset each Wednesday to go pick up an easy part, if it drops. Also bringing marks back onto the honour gear would make people play BG's again and make use of all Bg's again. It's really horrible to see 3 AB's up at a time, where as before there was something like 50+ up at a time.

Another Idea of mine was to give EoTS and SoTA reputation and then, perhaps for X amount of marks players can buy a nice off piece bit of PvP gear, just like back in the days at 60 where you could get legs, bracers, capes etc.. from getting exalted.

I think there should be something more than just a title to gain from BG's. I had the idea of having all the faction based reputation tabards only being obtainable at exalted status but they should give a buff like most of the faction tabards in WOTLK. So to encourage city raiding, if you are wearing one of these PvP tabards and down a city boss. Each one should grant you 10 marks or so. By doing this it would hopefully make BG's more populated and give players another reason to raid cities other than just obtaining an achievement + mount reward from them.

Bring back full premades and not use this crap match-making system. I understand about only having a group of 5 people for AV as it is such a large battleground, but for all the others it's just ridiculous. Im really not sure why they did this but if it was because of people whining about getting steamrolled by premades then it really is their own fault and they should probably make some friends ingame and setup some premades of their own instead of just being plain lazy. It really is stupid to wait for two hours in a que just to play with your friends and have a laugh. (Yes, some of us have more than 5 friends).

Also I would make it so battleground objectives more important and make it so you gain less honour from someone in BG's again and only BG's, we've got to think of the world PvP'rs too. This would hopefully make less people HK farm and have people focusing on the objective in the BG.

For world PvP, im not sure what I would do. Probably make it harder to get craftable epics by reducing material drop rates and raising the amount of materials needed for crafting those more than easy to get epics. This would bring more people outdoor to farm mobs perhaps and would hopefully recreate another tyrs hand/hearthglen and elemental plateau. I guess i'd also reduce the amount of daily quests doable. That amount of gold you can make in a day is plain stupid and i'd probably cut that down to 15 dailies a day, but have more daily PvP quests(like in Icecrown) all over Northrend bumping up the rewards of them compared to other dailys to encourage more world PvP

Well that was my blog about how I feel PvP in general can be brought back to life and that is probably what I would push for if I was working for blizzard. My next blog will be about old content and my ideas on how PvE could be a lot more better/fun. Sorry if it was a little long guys, but I had to get some of that stuff off my chest.

First Blog

Hi! I've decided to make a blog and my first one may aswell be me introducing myself. My name is Tom, im 20 years old living in England, UK. I've been playing WoW since June 2005. Now playing an 80 undead warlock

Started my career as a little gnome on the server Frostwhisper (EU), got hooked on battlegrounds after a few weeks at 60. I was in a pretty good guild at the time doing MC with them, yes the good old days and randomly managed to become the first rank 13 warlock on alliance side, which kinda suprised me since I don't think i've achieved anything so big in a computer game.

After that I joined the best guild on the server did some hardcore PvE bounced around other servers rerolling etc... only to find myself back on Frostwhisper(home) every time so I did what I thought was best and rolled an undead warlock to play with my horde homies. (HI PLAGUETONGUE).

So what will I be blogging about?

Pretty much my everyday goings on in WoW, whining about rogues who have been shafting me for the past 4 years <3 and the game in general. Which I personally think has gone downhill even though I have been enjoying wrath to a certain extent. My suggestions to what Blizzard could do or could have done to make this game what is was before, epic.

So I guess thats it for now, hopefully i'll have something enjoyable for you guys to read in the coming days, im not sure how often I will post a blog, at least one a week but i'll try to do more. I'll also work on making this blog more attractive.
